Meet Ernie, He's all cuteness, about 3-4 years old, about 20 pounds and maybe a Schnauzer/Dachshund/corgi mix... the sweetest boy you will ever meet (everyone who has met him has fallen in love). Ernie loves pets, belly rubs and cuddles. Wait until you see his entire body wiggle for joy. He is housebroken, loves his walks on the leash but not meant for long distance hikes on those short legs of his. Generally a bit shy and introverted initially but ignores cats, good with calm dogs and loves his person. Ernie seems to prefer calm environments so no young kids for this guy. Ernie does well in a crate but prefers free roaming or even better, the company of his humans. You can't ask for a better behaved dog.

Ernie arrived from Texas testing positive for heartworm disease, he has no symptoms and is expecting to have a complete recovery but is looking for a foster to adopt (foster could complete adoption once Ernie is finished with his treatment in about 4 months, at rescue's cost of course). Must be willing to bring him to Ellicott City for 3 vet appts during treatment. Happy to discuss this process more.

The adoption fee is $425, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including age appropriate vaccinations, worming, flea/tick preventative and spay/neuter. All of our dogs will be microchipped.

Because our dogs are in foster homes, applications are required prior to setting up any appointments. Calling or emailing may delay your consideration. Find our application on our website, almosthomedogs.org, then click on "Adopt" tab at top

We are a non profit no kill 501 (c)3 rescue. Please understand that we do our best to describe our dogs but often we rescue them with virtually no information about them and often our best educated guess can be challenging. Currently check, cash or venmo is preferred payment.
