2/2006 This is Abby. A sweet little cattle kid that needs a home to call her own.
Abby came to us from a kill shelter in central Nebraska. While they hoped to be able to get her onto the adoption floor, after 2 months in foster care they knew there was no hope for her there. Abby needed more help than they could give her.
So, scared and confused, Abby came to us. We are working with her daily to bring her out of her shell. And we have made huge steps in the right direction. Abby was so scared when we brought her home that we couldn't even touch her without her screaming...Now, she will eat out of our hand. She used to hide in the far corner of the yard away from the other dogs, and as far from people as she could get...Now, she comes when called.......slowly......but she does come to us now. And she is not longer afraid to be with the other dogs.
Abby is good with other dogs, but can be a little dominant with smaller breeds. Fine with cats, and good with kids, she actually came around to our 3 year old before she came around to us.
We are looking for a cattle dog experienced home, or a home that is experienced with highly submissive and fearful dogs like Abby. We would also like to see Abby in a home with another dog that she can learn from.
Abby will be on the small side, around 25-30 lbs. She is spayed and fully vaccinated, she does have an under bite but it doesn't affect her in any way. She is house and crate trained, rides fine in a crate. Walks well on a leash.
