I got him from a Riverside animal shelter at about 3 years old, no knowledge of his prior ownership. He was missing large amounts of fur at the time, but care and love helped him stop over-licking and over-scratching. He has a very severe allergy to something he was encountering outside, so I don't let him outside at all.
He is quite affectionate towards humans and not very shy. Hates other cats. Still has a tendency to over-lick a bit. Never has really had a problem with using the litter box.
I am planning to give the litter box and water bowls I have to whoever takes him.
