My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Phoenix is a boy about 2 years old. He was found wandering the streets, and had possibly been doing so for quite some time. We are not 100% certain of his breed mix, but he has the coloring of a black mouth curr dog, and shows a few dachshund characteristics. He is smallish, weighing approximately 12 lbs. Phoenix is shy and takes a bit to warm up to strangers, but once he does, he is an absolutely lovely little man! He really enjoys playing with toys, and whenever his foster mom takes all the toys for wash day, as soon as they come out of the dryer, he takes them one by one back to his nesting spot. This may be a trait left over from his days on the street. He is not protective of them, anyone can play with whatever toy they choose, but they always end up back in his bed.

Due to his shy nature, Phoenix would do best in a home without a lot of activity and roughhousing. He is wary of the crate, but we are working on that. He is housebroken with a doggy door.

Phoenix is in good health, neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. He is a delightful little boy.

More about this rescue

Limbo Chihuahuas - Chihuahua/Chi mix rescue was founded in 2010. All of the volunteers met through another rescue organization that left the state of Florida and left a void in Chihuahua Rescue efforts. We found homes for the dogs that were left in the rescue and then grassrooted to form our own rescue.
The dogs that were left to us to find forever homes were Limbos as they did not have an official rescue to assist them- hence Limbo Chihuahuas.
We are a Florida Not for Profit organization and a 501c3 charitable organization.
We get our dogs from high kill shelters. Most shelter personnel do want dogs rescued - we have worked with some great folks.
The dogs are chihuahuas and chihuahua mixes. They come to us with some health or behavior challenges. Some are nearly perfect. Some are works in progress. Some are young and some are old. They are all great little dogs and very adoptable.
All dogs are up to date on vaccines, HW negative and on prevention and altered immediately. If any other care is necessary, it is done such as dentals. etc. Adoption fees are used for all vet care. 100% of all donations and adoption fees are used for care of the dogs.
Lastly - we always need volunteers to do lots of things especially FOSTERING!!!!. Fostering is very rewarding and no rescue can be successful without great volunteers and fosters!
