Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Darvin’s journey hasn’t been easy. He was confiscated when his owner was incarcerated, and it was clear he hadn’t been receiving proper care. He arrived at the rescue emaciated, infested with fleas, and understandably frightened. Darvin also lost some of his vision due to Pigmentary Keratitis, a result of chronic, untreated dry eye. While he still has some vision, he’s now on daily eye drops to help lubricate his eyes and prevent the condition from worsening.
Since arriving with us, Darvin has made incredible progress. He’s put on weight, is flea-free, had a much-needed dental procedure (where 11 rotten teeth were removed), has been neutered, and is up to date on all his vaccines. The main ongoing care he requires includes a monthly Cytopoint injection for his allergies and his daily eye drops.
Darvin has been with us for about four months, and we’ve learned that he prefers his own space away from other dogs. This isn’t uncommon for dogs with a history of neglect or vision impairment, both of which apply to Darvin. While he might be able to coexist with a calm, respectful dog in the right environment, he’s currently enjoying his private suite at the rescue. He would probably be best suited as the only dog in his forever home.
Darvin is a sweet and loving soul once he feels comfortable. He adores cuddles and belly rubs but can be cautious around new people. While it may take a little time to earn his trust, he warms up quickly—especially if there are treats involved! Darvin deserves a second chance in a loving forever home. We promise if you give him a chance, he'll be your best buddy in no time! Please inquire today about our friend, Darvin.

More about this rescue
Pug Nation Rescue of Los Angeles is a registered 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, care, and placement of abandoned, neglected, unwanted, displaced, and abused pugs. Our goal is to find every homeless pug a forever home; if we cannot do that, we pledge to provide a comfortable and loving place for sick or unwanted pugs to live out their lives. Our Board of five and numerous volunteers are passionate about Pug Rescue and live by our motto of “One Pug at a Time”. We feel that through our efforts we can change many of these forgotten Pug’s lives. In order to find our Pugs a home as soon as possible, we hold at least three adoption fairs a month and also organize a number of fundraising events, including the annual Pugtacular festival and Legendary Bingo at Hamburger Mary’s in West Hollywood. These events and on-line fundraising have provided the money to help pay for vet treatments, medicine and loving care at our Pug Station. We rely on the generosity of our supporters through donations and participation in our fundraising activities. If you would like to make a donation, find out about the next event, become a volunteer, foster, or adopt your own rescue pug, you are in the right place! You can also follow us on Facebook and twitter, there is always something going on and new pugs needing your help.
