About:
Marilu comes off as shy but she is a social butterfly in her own right, famously getting along with every dog she meets and fluttering out of new pairings smelling like a rose. Her gentle nature extends to humans too; she greets everyone with a soft approach that pulls the heartstrings. While Marilu isn't into treats or playing with toys, she loves hanging out with her furry friends. She’s the ideal addition for a dog already in the home that needs a companion, no matter their age. Marilu can fit in all kinds of households, but we can see her thriving most in a home with another dog to be around when you're away! Leave it to Marilu to fit right in with the established pack and compliment their play style with ease.

Marilu is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm negative.

Interview

We process your application in the order received. We'll contact you through call or email.

3.
Visit the Facility and Find a Pet

Visit the facility via scheduled appt. and meet the the dog. If all seems like a good fit, the dog can go home on this day!

*You must put in an application!* This is important step. Fill one out at hlcr.org! Of course, you can ask us questions at any time via email or text.

The application will come back up again during the final meet n greet, since check out and microchips rely on the same system where the applications are put in.

More about this rescue

Highland Lakes Canine Rescue was founded in 1999 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization by a group of folks who wanted to rescue homeless dogs from the Central Texas region and care for their health, rehabilitation and then to ultimately find these dogs a forever home uniting them with a newly adopted family. Initially HLCR started out as a foster only organization but over the 17 years has grown into it's own location with a kennel facility, outdoor pens, walking trails and staff and resident caretaker. An active and passionate group of staff and volunteers works tirelessly supporting HLCR and its mission.
