Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hey there, do you like a challenge and have experience with abused dogs. If so, do we have the guy for you.
Ferdinand is a 1-year-old, 9-pound, Cavalier Poodle mix. His is the worst horror story we have ever heard only because all of the horror started for him as a baby and didn't end until he was seven months old. By the time he came to Tiny Paws Small Dog Rescue, his protective instinct was firmly in place.
Ferdie still has trust issues especially with strangers. He has recently learned it is OK to be picked up. He runs away from strangers and will hide in the yard when someone comes and wants to interact with him. At night I am his best friend, and he comes up on the bed and snuggles right up against me and I can pet him all over. During the day he allows petting on his own terms, so he has made some progress since he has been here. He even allows family members who visit to pet him as long as they follow his rules, and he needs to be tranquilized for grooming, but we are working on that too.
Ferdie is neutered, current with all vaccines and microchipped. Because he is a flight risk, he will require a fenced yard. He is pee pad trained and will use the doggy door to go outside.
Ferdie is being fostered in Silver Lake Wisconsin. If you would like more information about Ferdinand, please contact Carol at 262-539-5262 or email carolpfeiffershihtzu@yahoo.com
Adoption fee of $450 required.

More about this rescue
Tiny Paws Small Dog Rescue was born out of my love for small dogs and desire to help those in need, and in memory of the loss of a dear family member. Dealing frequently with small breed puppies and retired breeder moms, we strive to find homes that are aware of the commitment to raising a small breed dog and to the patience needed in socializing and housebreaking a retired breeder mom who has no idea what life in a home is all about. We are foster home based and are always looking for new foster homes to help us continue our love of rescuing dogs in need. We are happy to assist in owner surrender placements, especially those in need of surrendering their small dogs due to financial hardships, loss of a loved one, or dog owner entering assisted living facilities or nursing homes. We pride ourselves with a thorough search for that perfect home for a dog in need and follow up with phone calls to ensure things are going well. Tiny Paws will take back an adopted dog should the need arise within a reasonable notice and an available foster home has an open spot. Our goal is to someday own a building to house even more canine companions in need. We look forward to helping you find your family pet.
