My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Abbey - Chonky Chonk Badonkadonk

Abbey was born into our rescue and adopted out as a kitten in 2018. She was returned in 2022, with a litany of issues as reported by her adopters. Destructive, peeing outside of the box, constantly hiding, etc. I thought we'd be getting back a cat with all sorts of behavioral problems.
I have had ZERO issues with her. None (ok, well, aside from chewing the Christmas tree, snagging an entire slice of pizza or piece of chicken and trying to abscond with it when the opportunity presents itself - she is very food motivated. Same, girl, same.). She is a beautiful girl and she makes my heart happy. She's almost 7 years old now and she's overlooked day after day as so many adult cats are. She's been back in foster care for over 2 years.
Here's what Abbey is NOT: 1) a lapcat, 2) a cat that's going to snuggle you, 3) a cat that is going to be a playmate for another cat.
Here's what Abbey IS: 1) sweet, 2) funny, 3) independent, 4) smart, and 5) a wonderful companion.
She's always nearby, she likes to hang out, loves a good sunny spot to sleep in, enjoys a cat tree for a long nap, peacefully co-exists with all the other cats and dogs in the house and is a pro at pretending they don't exist, an excellent alarm clock (she is the first to remind me it's dinnertime), and she's just a joy.
She would be perfect for someone who works long hours but feels guilty about leaving a pet along for 12+ hours, but Abbey would be fine with that. She's content to have someone feed her, give her a little bit of love every now and then, and needs someone who won't get too mad at her if she steals half their sandwich.

Abbey's adoption fee is $125.

We require an approved application prior to scheduling any meet and greets. Applications can be found on www.ABRAangels.com or you can request one at ABRAangels@gmail.com. Adoption includes spay/neuter, rabies and deworming and vaccines.

WE DO NOT ALLOW OUR CATS OR KITTENS TO BE DECLAWED!!!! Declawing is an owner convenience and serves no benefit to the cat. If you adopt a kitten/kitten and we find out it has been declawed, not only will you lose your adoption fee, but we have the right to reclaim the cat.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our adoptions start with an application and approval process. Most of our adult dogs have an adoption fee of $250, regardless of how much medical attention they have received (some of them cost us substantially more than that, all of our rescues are thoroughly vetted and treated for any illness before being adopted out). You must be 21 adopt from us.

We prefer a fenced in yard but it's not required. All people in the household must be present for adoption and we request that you at least spend 45 minutes with the pet of your choice before making the commitment to take them home

EVERY adoption includes spay or neuter. Check around; not everyone includes the price of surgery, even if it's required. Our donation for dogs also includes: first shots, heartworm test if over 6 months, and rabies shot (at time of surgery if too young). Most are also microchipped. Cats come with surgery cost included, first shots, FIV test, and nail trim. We do NOT allow our cats to be declawed!

More about this rescue

We are a foster style rescue. Our pets live with us, so we know more about them than the average shelter. We have a variety of homes that include other dogs, cats, kids, etc.

Spaying and neutering is the absolute best way to curb pet overpopulation. We believe in low cost spay and neuter and can provide info on low cost surgeries.

We also believe pet nutrition and vaccine awareness can keep your best friend healthy for life. Our fosters are fed high quality food. We encourage people to explore the nutritional value of pet food and make the best decision for their pets.
