My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Raya is a young cattle dog cross that is 1.5 years old and approximately 37-40 lbs. she is a really nice medium sized dog.

She loves all people, including children. and is extremely affectionate. If you like kisses and snuggles she is the dog for you.

***She would do best in a home with another dog or dogs, as she loves to play and looks to the resident dogs for guidance. ***

She is sensitive, VERY smart, and extremely trainable. She has learned sit, look at me, shake a paw, other paw, wait, down, bow, play dead, leave it, get up here, crawl, crate, and go to bed (to name a few - there’s more)

She is a natural at agility and is super FAST!

She is house trained, crate trained, travels well in the car and likes to hang out with the family. She is a busy young girl that likes to run and play. That being said, she is quiet and calm in the house, and able to entertain herself with chews and toys when necessary.

She does get excited when meeting other dogs and can at times be a little pushy. She is a herding dog and sometimes feels the need to move other dogs around. That being said, we have been making great progress encouraging quiet introductions. Her recall is 100% when no other dogs are present and it has been steadily improving when she is distracted.

She is fabulous at the dog park when there are a small number of dogs and has a great play style. (Gets over stimulated if there is a large number of dogs)

Raya is currently being fostered in Delta in a house with 2 resident dogs, and is very respectful of the older dog that is there.

** She MAY be able to live with a dog savvy cat but she hasn’t been tested. She has been exposed to horses on leash and did fine

She is spayed and has all her shots

More about this rescue

The One Dog Rescue is a non-profit, volunteer and foster based organization located in North Vancouver. We are dedicated to helping homeless and unwanted dogs find a new home. We focus on dogs locally that have lost their home due to illness or death and dogs at immediate risk of being put down at high kill shelters. Any potential fosters or adopters are fully screened through vet, reference and home checks. We work to address the overpopulation problem and to promote responsible dog ownership.

Our dogs are placed with loving and dedicated foster parents who open their homes to these animals in need. Foster families also help provide the care the dogs require until they can be matched with adoptive, permanent homes.
