Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Tater Tot is an owner surrender. His family needed to downsize and they felt that Tater Tot deserved more attention than they could give him right now. He also played too rough with their older dog, dragging him around by his ears like he was a stuffed animal (which he loves to play with and has with him pretty much everywhere) .We were told that Tater Tot is what they call a "double doodle". His parents were an aussiedoodle and a labradoodle. Tater Tot was a year old on 4/3/24 and has been a part of a family most of his life. According to his owner, Tater Tot has always done well with other dogs, has been fine with kids and was used to cats but hasn't been around any in awhile so she wasn't sure how he would still be (but probably with proper introductions, he should do fine). He walks on a leash but not great since they seldom use them so he will need work with leash walking and a refresher course on housetraining. Tater Tot has done well coming into rescue and doesn't seem fazed much by the change. We feel that he should adjust quite easily in most homes. He is friendly and we are told he is playful and goofy like many doodles can be. Because he has the doodle coat, he will need to be groomed to keep him looking his best. It is important that he receive regular coat maintenance. He could use a groom in the very near future. Tater Tot will be a wonderful companion in practically any home!
Tater Tot saw the vet on 5/29/24. He had a skin infection found during his exam so he received a Convenia (antibiotic)injection. This injection generally only needs to be given once so he should not require further treatment. He tested negative for heartworms. He has been started on Simparica Trio for monthly heartworm treatment/prevention/flea control. He did test positive for hookworms so we treated him with Drontal for the hooks. Tater Tot weighed 15.2 pounds as of 5/29/24.
If interested in giving Tater Tot his forever home, please submit your interest and your adoption application via email or text ONLY to 352-215-3260 (phone calls will not be answered or returned from this number). Tater Tot's adoption fee will be $400 to help cover the cost of his vetting and daily care while with us. We will only consider applicants who complete the adoption application and will determine whether the applicant would be a good fit for Tater Tot based on the info provided in the application. If we feel that you will be a good match for him, we will set up a meet and greet appointment with you.
