This precious little guy is a rescue in need of a home. He is not in our
foster care program but we are helping his foster family find him the
perfect home. If you'd like more information on him, you can email his
foster mom at ayorkiemama@hotmail.com Here's his info in her words:
Expresso is a 5 year old Yorkshire Terrier and weighs about 5 lbs. He is a
rescue from a breeder kennel where he was neglected and malnourished.
As a result, his body hair is very thin and he has no hair on his ears. He is
microchipped and one of his ears still bears the mark of the breeder’s
tattoo, but it is barely visible.
He came to us covered in fleas and suffering with ear mites and tapeworms.
He was in pain and had trouble eating and was very thin. His teeth were
covered in very thick, brown tartar and some were abscessed. He needed
antibiotics to fight infection for a week before being deeply sedated so the
tartar could be scraped off and some teeth had to be pulled. He was also
neutered and treated for ear mites, fleas and worms. He is now current on
vaccinations and is being maintained on Advantage Multi to prevent
re-infestation and heartworms.
He is recovering nicely and is now eating well and gaining weight. He can
eat large chunk dry food but prefers small bites and he loves little doggie
bone treats. Until his hair grows back in thicker, he will need to wear
sweaters in colder weather. He is housebroken and crate trained. He likes to
go on walks and rides well in a car. He plays well with other dogs and
doesn’t react to cats outdoors, however we have not observed him around
indoor cats. He gets along well with young children.
Expresso is a little shy at first with strangers, but he is really sweet and
just craves the lap-baby attention. He does prefer to primarily stay
indoors, but loves to get outside and play and soak up the sunshine.
We are requesting an adoption fee of $150 to cover only part of the costs
for his medical and dental treatment. But we are willing to negotiate the
fee because our goal is to find this little guy a permanent, safe, and
loving home.
Now for the official stuff:
Please note that we do not place our animals on a first come, first served basis. We work to find the best homes possible for our babies. Please fill out an application for adoption ONLY if you are serious about adopting this dog and you can provide for any special needs it may have. Vet references are required.
