Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Georgia, a remarkable 2-year-old American Bully with a big heart and plenty of love to give! At just 40 pounds, Georgia is a compact bundle of muscle and energy, ready to make her next family feel as special as she is.
Georgia is a special needs dog looking for a forever home that understands her unique situation. Her journey hasn’t been easy, but her resilience and joyful spirit shine through every challenge she faces. Georgia joined Angel Fund OKC in May 2023 when what was initially suspected to be a snake bite on her back leg didn’t respond to treatment. As a result, Georgia is now a tripod, but this hasn’t slowed her down one bit!
In addition to her three legs, Georgia also has a bone in her front leg that grew unevenly, which causes her some discomfort. The pain is manageable with medication, and due to her being a tripod, corrective surgery isn’t recommended. While her health team expects that she may develop arthritis as she gets older (around five years), Georgia is thriving in the present and enjoying life to the fullest.
One of the many ways Georgia shows her excitement is by spinning in circles, especially when she’s happy—which is often! She’s a playful, energetic pup who loves interacting with other dogs and is even good with cats. Georgia also enjoys being around children, though she would do best with older kids, as she doesn’t always realize how strong she is. And while she is fully house-trained, there’s one thing her new family should know: when Georgia gets super excited, she sometimes nips at your legs. It’s her way of saying, “Hey, I’m down here! Notice me!”—though, on occasion, the nips can be a bit strong.
At home, Georgia is a great companion. She is comfortable in her crate when left alone but loves being able to roam freely at night. Despite her challenges, Georgia continues to be an agile, loving, and joyful dog who’s ready for the right family to embrace her fully.
If you’re looking to welcome a truly special dog into your life, Georgia may be the perfect fit. She’s ready to give all the love and joy in her heart to a family that can provide her with the care, attention, and understanding she deserves.
