I'm not sure how I ended up here. Everyone seems really nice. I'm quiet in my room. I don't cause a fuss. I'm rather shy, I'll go with you wherever you go but I'm not going to charge into a room and go running around just yet. I'm very respectful. I'm young and rather polite. 51 pounds. I take treats easy but when I get to be outside, I'm ready to go. I'm hoping to be a singer in a band one day. I like to give samples of my work when I see someone interesting. The vollys think it's cute. I'm ok with dogs and cats so far. Although I'm quite content to avoid cats in the hall. But they have tasty food, so I'll be their buddy. I'm ok with people that go slow with me. I might need to meet kids first before I'm comfortable with them. We can hang out and chat or go for a quick walk, I might need some time to warm up to new adventures. Everything has been coming at me pretty fast. Things need to slow down so I can catch a nap. Maybe you can slow down too so we can have a walk, some lunch then a nice nap. You know where I'll be ...waiting for you in B-2. Primary Color: Black Weight: 49.8 Age: 1yrs 1mths 4wks

Adoption fee includes basic vaccinations, worming, flea treatment, feline-leukemia/FIV test, heartworm test, spay/neuter (done prior to leaving), rabies vaccination and a microchip
There is a contract and all potential adopters meet with adoption counselor to talk about application and make sure pet is good fit with the person and family. A "meet and greet" is required with all family members and the pet prior to finalizing the adoption application. If someone is adopting a dog and has another dog at home, we also require a "meet and greet" for the dogs as well. All animals in the home must be up to date on vaccinations prior to new pet going home. We do not adopt to people who will keep the pet outside exclusively. We may do a home visit either pre or post-adoption. Animals adopted from us are not be sold or given to another person. More about this shelter
The Humane Society of Wicomico County was started in 1968 by a group of people who wanted to help improve the lives of animals. We have come a long way in our 40+ years! We have a staff dedicated to making sure the animals that come to our doors are loved and protected as they wait for their forever home. Not only are our animals vaccinated, wormed and given flea preventative, we can treat animals that come to us with mange, ringworm, heartworm and pay for animals to be seen by an outside vet should there be a need. We have an on-site spay/neuter clinic that not only is used for our animals but we also offer low cost spay/neuter for animals of the public. We provide emergency boarding for victims of domestic abuse, fire, and medical emergencies. We also have the capability to set up an off-site emergency shelter for people evacuated from their homes. In addition, we have an education program to help teach kids about being a responsible pet guardian. We work with a wide range of rescue groups and our animals have been transported from our mid-Atlantic area throughout the North Eastern United States. Our shelter is an open admission shelter and we will take in approximately 3500 animals this year. We do what we do because of our love for animals and our desire to make a difference in their lives every single day.
