My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We don't know exactly what Ajax's breeding is, but he's a low-rider Husky and is incredibly cute. Maybe a Corgi/Husky cross? Who knows?! What we do know is that Ajax is a steller pup. He was with a loving foster and here's what they say about this charismatic boy:

"Ajax is an absolute love bug. He is driven by cuddles and will never turn down an opportunity to be pet. His happy demeanor pulls in the attention of everyone he passes on the street. You won't be able to walk ten feet without getting compliments on how well-behaved and beautiful he is. On that note, he LOVES going for long walks and hikes. If you want to get in shape, he'll be your best motivator.

He takes treats gently and sits patiently while you set his food bowl down. He is a goofball who loves to find small areas to sleep in. If you can't find him, he's probably crawled under your bed to create a cozy little den for himself. He loves his crate and will go in there by choice to take a little snooze in the middle of the day.

He's so intelligent that there isn't anything he can't learn with a little patience and consistency! He is such a people-dog that he would do best with someone who works from home. He will chill and be quiet when we're working/focused; likes to be near you and will quietly rest at your feet.

He's met many children and would be fine with kids 6 year and older.

For training we've worked "sit" ,"lie down", "leave it", "stay" and "come". He seems to really enjoy his training sessions."

Ajax is looking for a home that will continue with his training, provide exercise and enrichment, and give him lots of attention. If you'd like to meet this handsome boy, please fill out an application.

More about this rescue

The Milo Foundation is an established 501(c)(3) nonprofit, no-kill organization providing an alternative for homeless pets throughout California, through education, adoption services, and providing sanctuary for animals until permanent homes can be found.

Founded in August of 1994, The Milo Foundation Sanctuary is located on two hundred and eighty-three acres in Mendocino County - offering lots of room for the animals to run and play. The Milo Sanctuary animals typically (but not exclusively) are harder to adopt animals and those needing more rural type homes, such as dogs with social or behavioural challenges, feral cats, horses and other farm animals. The Milo Point Richmond Adoption Center is where the majority of our new rescue intake takes place, typically friendly, adoptable cats and dogs, puppies and kittens rescued from shelters where they were facing euthanasia. The Sanctuary is where highly active or reactive dogs can go and have plenty of space, other canine companions (if they are dog friendly) and live in a stress free environment until such time as the right adoption match can be found.

The Milo Sanctuary is what enables Milo to be a No-Kill organization. Milo brings dogs back and forth from the Adoption Center (MPR) to the Sanctuary to give dogs a break from the stresses of the kennel environment and back to MPR later to try again at being adopted. Potential adopters also do come up to the Sanctuary to adopt, by appointment.
