My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

There is an adorable video of me on an ACC's TikTok page. Click here to experience the cuteness!

All pets are vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed/neutered when appropriate.

A bit about me:

Toby was found tied up in front of a building before she was brought to Manhattan ACC.

My ideal home:

We have no history on Toby so we cannot be certain of her behavior in a home environment. However, she is a young, enthusiastic, and social dog who will need daily mental and physical activity to keep her engaged and exercised. We recommend long-lasting chews, food puzzles, and hide-and-seek games, in addition to physical exercise, to positively direct her energy and enthusiasm.

Good with other pets?

Toby was playful and friendly around other dogs during her assessments, so she might get along well with new doggy friends with proper introductions and socialization. We always suggest slow introductions with resident pets, and we offer a 2-week trial adoption to help you see if Toby is a good fit with your family. Since ACC doesn't test with cats, we're not sure how she'd do with feline friends, but we can help you with tips and advice!

Good with kids?

We do not have any records of how Toby does with children in a household setting. However, we always recommend slow introductions. With patience, she'll be a wonderful addition to a loving family!

How is my health?

Toby has some treatable dental concerns that our staff will discuss with you.

How are my leash manners?

Toby pulls moderately on a leash and is nonreactive to humans and dogs on walks.

What is my behavior assessment?

Toby has been assessed as a Level 2 dog. Toby is observed to bite and tug on the leash, but this behavior is easily redirected using treats. We recommend walking her with a toy to dissuade them from grabbing the leash. Positive reinforcement, force-free training is advised to teach her to focus on you rather than grabbing the leash.
