My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I was an emergency intake after I was brought to a local vet clinic. They discovered that I had eaten a toy that was making me very sick, and my owner couldn`t afford the surgery to help me, so my shelter friends stepped in to help me. I love people, however I would prefer to be the only pet in the home. I`m not the biggest fan of dogs or cats. I love to play and cuddle with my human friends though!

More about this shelter

The Kankakee County Humane Foundation (KCHF) is a 501(c) (3) non- profit organization animal shelter. Since 1963 the Foundation has rescued unwanted, neglected and abandoned dogs and cats in the Kankakee County area.

KCHF is a community focused organization serving animals in need since 1963. The Foundation is entirely dependent on memberships and private donations and does not receive any tax revenue or public funds.

KCHF adopts out our animals to safe, loving, and caring homes through an application and screening process. The Foundation supports responsible pet ownership by performing background checks, validating personal and veterinary references listed on adoption applications.

The shelter is staffed daily to maintain appropriate service levels for the animals and those wishing to adopt them. We are committed to ending all forms of abuse to domestic animals. We urge voters to support legislation to protect animals. We believe in teaching children the proper way to treat and care for animals. We urge the spaying and neutering of companion animals and believe that animal guardianship is a privilege for those who wish to love and be loved by faithful friends.
