My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Trinks was saved from an overcrowded high kill shelter in Roswell, NM. She is approx 1 year 4 months old.

Dog Name: Trinks

Good with dogs? Will need slow very careful introductions but would do best in a home without another pup

Good with kids? Unknown

Good with cats? Yes, doesn’t seem to pay much attention to my cat unless my cat gets her attention and tries to play with her.

Has experience on a leash? No, we’re working on leash training but she pulls a lot. Carrying high value treats with us to help with training has been working out well but she still cares more about bunnies than the treats. We take walks in the morning, lunch time if not too hot and in the evening.

Potty trained? Yes

Crate trained? Yes, Trinks is very comfortable in her crate and it’s her safe space. She doesn’t mind one bit hanging out in her crate while we are gone.

Where does the dog stay when it is home alone? Crate

Where does the dog sleep? Crate

What does the dog eat? She is currently eating open nature turkey formula (with grains). She loves freeze dried beef liver and freeze dried duck treats the most.

Temperament/Personality: she is energetic and loves to carry toys around the house. She loves people and has been super friendly with everyone she has met and immediately wants to be pet by them.

What does the dog's ideal home look like? Ideally she will live in a house with a huge yard so she can run non stop. She does laps like crazy in our yard and has never ending energy. We have been going on three walks a day and she still has enough energy to run in the backyard afterwards. She will need very active owners. She is not a lazy couch potato type of dog. From what I’ve seen of her interacting with other dogs, she would probably do best in a home with no other dogs. She seems to be very intimidated by bigger dogs.

What are the dog's strengths? Loves to play and very good with people.

What is the dog still working on? What can they improve? She is selectively dog reactive, when we’re out walking some dogs she starts growling at and others she ignores. She seems to be most reactive towards dogs bigger than her.

If your foster were a celebrity, who would they be? Some crazy Diva type

If your foster dog were on a dating site, what would their profile say?  I love outdoor adventures and wish I could spend all day walking running or hiking around. I need activities to put my mind to work and have a hard time staying still for too long.

Beach or Mountains? Mountains, Trinks would make a great hiking companion. She loves sniffing trees and plants and would probably do great on trails once she is better behaved on a leash.

Squeaky/Bouncy/Chewy, what do they look for in a toy? She loves to rip up toys but we noticed she swallows some of the pieces so we have been giving her Kongs and she loves chewing on those and getting treats out of them.

Complete this sentence “My foster wishes they had a friend with whom they could share many outdoor adventures.”

What’s your foster’s favorite dessert? Everything! Trinks has not met a treat she did not like. She is extremely food motivated.

Trinks did great at the park! She was curious and social saying “hi” to new people. She observed ducks and other dogs at the park quietly.

She is an adorable petite size and is even smaller in real life than her photos portray.

When she’s excited, she does full-body wiggles of joy, little happy tippy-taps, and her ears pop up and down.

Although she is a little demure, she is SO very sweet and quick to trust. She will snuggle up quickly and seeks love and affection even from strangers.

She loves doing sniffy-walks but also redirects well. She will also come and “check in” with people during her walks, asking for snuggles and hugs. She gives gentle kisses and likes men, women, and children.

She takes high value snacks politely. She also rides very nicely in cars and is an excellent passenger.

After her walk, she appreciated being wrapped up in a fuzzy blanket and sitting in a lap.
