Oakley is one tough yet sweet dude! He came to the rescue as a seemingly healthy young kitten. Unfortunately, Oakley presented signs of FIP (feline infectious peritonitus), which up until recently was a death sentence for most cats as there wasn't a means for legal treatment that vets could prescribe. He had quite a journey with sometimes painful injections of medication that his foster mom was able to procure, and did relapse once after completing 12 weeks of treatment. Luck was on his side, as his relapse coincided with the availability of prescribed medication as of June 2024 and Oakley has been thriving!
Oakley completed another 12 weeks of treatment and 12 weeks of observation with no signs of relapse. We're confident that he has been cured of FIP! Through all of the ups and downs of his medical journey, Oakley has been nothing but gentle, loving and affectionate. He LOVES to be held and to cuddle at night. He gets bursts of playfulness but truly just prefers to take it easy. He gets along with other cats and dogs, and would likely do well with older children in his forever home, too.
