My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*** Stubby is in a foster home. ***

Solid gray, short hair, neutered male, born approx. 8/15/14, #19083

Cats: unknown, good solo
Dogs: no thank you
Children: gentle kids okay

Stubby had been living a hard life on the streets in Covina for a number of years; he still bears the physical marks of some of his tough past: a crumpled ear from an old infection and his shortened tail that was the result of a coyote encounter and led to his name. A Good Samaritan had seen him a number of times over the years, and when she saw him with an obviously infected wound on his face, she worked to earn his trust and took Stubby in to get him proper medical care. She got him healthy and neutered, but her own cat had a strong opinion about Stubby staying permanently, so his benefactor sought adoption avenues for him finding a forever home and so he came to The Rescue House.

Stubby is a resilient and charismatic fellow who has seamlessly transitioned to being a happy housecat. He loves people! Stubby will follow you around the house chatting away and telling you all of his favorite stories and wishes (unsurprisingly, he is very enthusiastic about food!). Stubby is a great conversationalist and is highly communicative. When you call him over, he'll come right over with a ready meow, and if you pick him up to put him on your lap then he will stay for a cozy nap... he will also join you in bed at night. In the morning he likes to wake his foster up with a sweet meow: a gentle reminder of his presence and a readiness to start the day together. Although he isn't always in the mood for play, Stubby does cherish his interactive moments with toys and humans alike. His favorite toy is a mousie. Though he can occasionally block the camera during a Zoom meeting when he wants attention, he's overall a good work from home buddy. Stubby is happy to be picked up and hugged, and he adores receiving belly rubs during petting time: a simple joy that speaks to his trust and contentment with his new life.

We don't know Stubby's thoughts on living with other cats, though he does very well as a solo kitty. He does not like dogs. Stubby met some children at a large party hosted by his original rescuer and was calm and behaved perfectly around them, so he would likely be fine living with most respectful kids.

Stubby's spirit remained unbroken during his years on the streets: he's a survivor who has embraced his second chance with a gentle purr and a heart full of love. Will he be your beloved companion?
