Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Vernon is a very happy go lucky 5yo (m) American Bully. He is a medium energy guy that just loves his people, meeting new people, and hanging out with people!
Vernon has been very polite and neutral with all new dogs he has met so far. He currently lives with 3 male dogs, and has met a female in care, and is happy going for walks with them. He has not engaged in play yet, but he has only been in care for 1 week so far.
On walks, Vernon does not pull much on a slip leash, and adjusts his pace to match his people. He loves to sniff and explore, and although he is a medium energy guy he is also up for longer hikes without tiring. He could be a good jogging partner for short-distance or recreational runners, although those real athletes may have higher standards than Vernon (& his foster mom) enjoy!
Vernon is housetrained and crate trained, and goes into his crate on command. He is only vocal when he spies the local chickens right outside of the part of the house he is crated in! Those silly chickens!
Vernon is excellent in the car and is happy riding shotgun, or hanging out on the backseat. He loves going for adventures with his people, and is very neutral and well behaved in new environments, and passing new people on trails.
Vernon would not be a good fit for a home with cats or small animals. He has shown prey drive torwards the chickens in his foster home, and did not do well in his cat test at the shelter.
Vernon is fully vetted- he is up to date on core vaccines, dewormed, has had a 4DX snap test come back negative for tick/mosquito borne illnesses, and is neutered. He has a dental cleaning booked for June 10th. Vernon has a case of "happy tail" where his tail has split at the end due to overexcited wagging and hitting the kennel walls in the shelter. It is slowly healing, but special care needs to be taken during the healing process so he doesn't hit it against anything. He has no other known health concerns.
