My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rocket
Rocket is a Male Wirehaired Terrier mix.
DOB: May of 2020
Adoption fee: $200.00

My name is Rocket for a reason, I am a ball of energy, but I am also a sweet little guy. I have a huge personality that is showing more and more every day. I like to give kisses and get all the pets and attention I can possibly get! I like to run around and have fun. I am a scruffy boy! I can be a little stubborn at times, but I am a little dog so what do you expect?

Not much information was given upon my intake. I should do okay in a home with another dog pending a meet and greet, I would also do good as an only dog. I have not been introduced to cats yet, but I should do okay with cats. I would not be fit for a home with young children, I do not like fast movement especially if they are coming at me. I should do okay with visiting grandkids if they respect my boundaries. I am highly required for a fenced in yard. I do walk okay on a leash but to keep me safe a fenced yard is best. I may require pending experience and location.

I really am a sweet boy ready to find my forever family, could that be you? If you are interested in being my adopter, please visit my shelter's website and complete the adoption application that is available there! HSSCM.org you can find the applications under the "adoptions" tab.

More about this shelter

About Us:
We are the area's nonprofit advocate, sanctuary and source for companion animals since 1887.

Our Mission:
-to protect animals from suffering and cruelty
-to provide safe and responsible care for unwanted or abused companion animals
-to enhance the lives of animals and people through education, adoption, and foster care.

We believe in second chances at the Humane Society of South Central Michigan. Our service area includes all of Calhoun County and parts of Kalamazoo, Barry and Branch counties. We keep animals as long as it takes to find a good home for adoption once the animal passes temperament testing and is checked for good health. The Watkins Road shelter cares for up to 100 animals a day, and adopts out more than 500 animals a year. Countless area residents use the Society’s animal care, adoption and education programs each year. The Humane Society is overseen by a board of directors. We do not receive any government or tax dollars, or national humane organization funding. Our services are made possible by people in our community who care about homeless cats and dogs - people like you!

The Humane Society of South Central Michigan values:
-The ethical and humane treatment of animals
-Its role as a shelter for animals that suffer from pain, fear, and neglect
-Community accountability for the welfare of its animals
-Responsible stewardship of our resources
-Community involvement to achieve our goals
-Education about responsible pet ownership
-The joy of sharing a life with animal companions
