Ellie Mae I can`t believe yesterday`s temerity from the interviewer lady (IL). I was sitting in my Kasa, quietly engaged in cat-thinking, when she opened my apartment door and said hello. We did not even have a set appointment. When you are an 8-year-old lady cat, you tend to expect a certain amount of decorum. I gave her a significant stare, and then I turned my head away into the corner. She knew she had been dismissed. I first checked into the HSHC in March because the other cat in my home had epilepsy, and those seizures caused me no end of stress. I was overgrooming, pulling out my hair to the point of going bald. My owners noticed that I always hid when there was a lot of activity in the home. So we all decided I needed to find a quieter home. Because the shelter atmosphere was not calm enough, I moved into a foster home in early June. My foster mom indeed let me take all the time I needed to feel comfortable and settled. She reported the following positive comments about me-- When I need some affection, I`ll gently tap you with my paw. It`s my way of saying, `I`m here, and I`d love some attention, please.` I can be a social butterfly when it comes to my favorite human companions. I am obsessed with licking my person, especially if he`s a male. I LOVE having my neck and back scratched, and I will even roll onto my side and make air biscuits while you do it. Finally, I adore cat treats! Given these lovely observations about me, you know that when I feel comfortable, I become a charmer. I will be most successful in my new home if everyone is 13 years of age or older. The IL later apologized for being so forward and I forgave her, kindly. I am excited to meet you, when may I expect you? 7-30-24

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.
This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
