Neptune’s story began on the streets, where he was picked up as a stray and brought to an overcrowded shelter. Like so many others, his future looked bleak—there are too many dogs in shelters and not enough adopters to give them the homes they deserve. Hundreds of huskies, thousands of dogs, all desperately needing to be rescued.
In May, during a California shelter bust, Jenni and Bethany spent an emotional weekend making impossible decisions, choosing which dogs could be saved with the limited space we had. Neptune was one of the lucky 23, and now he’s here, waiting for his chance to find his forever family.
This boy just wants to be loved. He’s a two-and-a-half-year-old bundle of energy and affection. Neptune is still working on his leash skills and sometimes gets so excited he jumps up to say hello, but his heart is as big as they come. He’s always looking for attention and affection, and around new dogs, he’s shy at first, carefully figuring out where he fits in the pack. Once he’s comfortable, though, it’s all joy, playtime, and tail wags!
Neptune is a literal angel of a husky. He’s super submissive with other dogs, never causes trouble, and is always happy to go with the flow. And butt scratches? They’re his absolute favorite thing in the world!
At Husky Halfway House, we have three stages for our dogs. Stage One is the Rescue. Stage Two is the Rehab. And now Neptune is ready for Stage Three: the Rehome. His moment has come, and we can’t wait to see him finally find his people.
Could Neptune be the one you’ve been waiting for?
Neptune is currently located at Husky Halfway House in Oklahoma. All H3 dogs, including Neptune are available for adoption throughout the USA, except for Hawaii and Alaska. We can transport them straight to your door with an approved application.

More about this shelter
We are committed and wholeheartedly dedicated to providing family and emergency services involving rescuing, sheltering, fostering, vetting, adoption and transportation of
"at risk" or "death row" husky and other large dog breeds.
Our goal is to not only provide these services in larger facilities than we currently have but also to use our resources to educate and raise public awareness on the benefits of properly caring for and keeping their pets and/or adopting from shelters and not shopping from breeders.
Our mission is to share our knowledge on the pro's of spay and neuter, the cons of backyard breeding and provide sound advice and services that help the community manage their day to day with their furry family members. Together, we can greatly reduce the number of unaltered, unvaccinated animals in our communities and put a dent in the homeless population by providing access to family services as well as spay, neuter and chip id programs.
