**Meet Callie - The Resilient German Shepherd!**
Breed: German Shepherd
Age: Approximately 6 years
Weight: 70 lbs
Vaccination Status:Up to date with vaccinations
**Disposition:**
Shy, timid, and laid back
**Personality**
Callie is a gentle and resilient dog who has come a long way from her rough past. When she was found running at large, she was covered in motor oil, thin, and wary of people. Initially, she displayed defensiveness due to her fear and protective instincts. She was pregnant at the time, which made her incredibly protective of herself, showcasing her strong maternal instincts. With time and patience, Callie has become a cuddlier companion, although she remains shy and timid, particularly around sudden movements. She stands her ground when she feels threatened, reflecting her strong spirit.
**Background**
Callie was rescued by a loving foster who recognized her potential. After losing her previous shepherd, her new family took her in, not fully aware of the challenges she would face. The first 2-3 months were a significant period of adjustment, especially for a dog that had to navigate the emotional stresses of being pregnant and transitioning to a new environment. However, with love and care, she has learned to trust again. Once she feels safe, she can be a big baby, seeking affection and cuddles.
**Socialization**
Callie requires a slow introduction to new environments and people. She may be on guard at first, so it's essential to provide her with a calm and supportive atmosphere. She gets along well with other dogs in her foster home, but patience is key as she acclimates to new companions and situations.
**Playtime**
Though Callie is laid back, she enjoys gentle play and loves to cuddle. She appreciates quiet moments and will snuggle up with her favorite humans after a day of light activity. Her sweet nature makes her a comforting presence in any home.
**Adoption Info**
If you're looking for a loving, laid-back dog who thrives in a calm and nurturing environment, Callie is the perfect match! With her gentle spirit and capacity for affection, she's ready to find her forever home, where she can continue to blossom. Give this sweet girl the chance she deserves, and she will fill your life with love and companionship.
