My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Miko is a handsome 8-month old male Shepherd mix who was surrendered by his owner on May 25, 2024 because (due to long work schedules) he didn't have the time to spend with Miko that he truly deserved.

This good looking young man has a brown-and-tan short smooth coat with subtle black shading on his back, a small patch of white on his chest, a long tail, and a beautiful face with dark brown eyes, a tan mask, and large semi-erect ears.

His previous owner told us that Miko is good with children and that he likes other dogs. Miko is crate-trained.

Miko has a sweet, lovable disposition and a happy, outgoing personality. He adored attention from HSOV Kennel Tech/Adoptions Clerk Lauryn Hamilton who spent time with him for 'glamour pictures' late in the afternoon on May 25th. They were joined by HSOV Volunteer Tracy Moore who brought a handful of 'good boy' treats .. Which were a 'game changer' (smile).

Miko is obviously an intelligent boy who quickly learned to 'shake paws' and 'sit pretty' when offered treats as a reward. Needless to say, he is very treat-motivated and will do whatever it takes to claim one as his own.

Miko weighs 58.2 lbs and walks fairly well on a leash.

Miko was neutered on June 5, 2024 and was also given rabies vaccine. He was adopted on June 12, 2024.

Update: Miko was returned by his adoptive family on August 9, 2024 (through no fault of his owner), since his family was moving and couldn't take Miko to their new residence. So he is once again looking for the perfect home. Miko currently weighs 51 lbs.

Miko was a very happy young man when a foster family offered him a temporary home on September 14, 2024 where he will enjoy the freedom of a real home environment instead of a shelter kennel. Miko is still available for adoption.

If you are interested in giving this awesome boy a permanent home, please complete/submit an HSOV adoption for approval .. And we will arrange a meet-and-greet with his foster family.
