Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Bourbon is a uniquely handsome 2-year-old chocolate lab with the most adorable cross-eyes and cuddly nature. He is about 46 pounds and could gain a couple more pounds but otherwise in great shape!
Bourbon came to us with a sad past. He was living outside in the high desert with about 50 other dogs who had very little human interaction. New things have been very scary as he didn't know what a collar or leash was, and new sounds and people can be a little intimidating. He's still working through these scary experiences but time, patience, love and treats will help Bourbon become an all-star companion.
After spending a few weeks with his foster family, Bourbon has shown so much affection and even gently offers his paw when requesting pets and scratches. Bourbon likes being with his people and taking snoozes in the hallway so he can see and hear all the action in the house. He even likes being carried around by his foster moms because it means more affection time. Treats are his love language, and he takes them so gently. He is crate-trained and only had one potty accident in the house. He sleeps the whole night in his crate, but prefers his crate be near his foster mom and foster sister - especially while he's building his confidence. The perfect home needs to come with a patient family and a confident (fur) sibling.
f you are interested in making this Lab part of your family, please contact your SCLRR family representative. If you have not yet applied with us, please submit an online application to adopt; an SCLRR volunteer will then contact you. Please note that your homecheck must be approved in order for you to be put in touch with the dog's foster home.
