Meet Newt, a remarkable young Husky born in March 2024, whose resilience and zest for life inspire everyone who meets her. She came into the world with advanced cataracts, leaving her with limited vision. Thanks to a successful eye surgery provided by SOAR Rescue, Newt now has partial sight, and she's eagerly experiencing the world in a whole new way. Though still visually impaired, this spirited girl is unstoppable!
Newt is as affectionate as she is brave. She's crate-trained, gentle, and loves the company of both humans and other dogs, making her an ideal companion for a household with another pet to help guide her and keep her company. Newt's ongoing health needs mean she'll thrive with a family committed to proactive veterinary care, including regular check-ins with a veterinary ophthalmologist to maintain her vision and a strong, consistent relationship with a trusted vet to keep her health on track.
Despite her unique challenges, Newt is full of curiosity, playfulness, and love. She's looking for a forever home that will embrace her needs, celebrate her spirit, and offer the support she needs to flourish. If you're ready to open your heart to a truly special dog, Newt may just be the perfect match for you.

More about this rescue
We are a foster based animal rescue in the Nashville area.
Our mission is to work as a shelter diversion for animals who are facing homelessness, through no fault of their own. We provide vet care, a foster and adoption for animals belonging to owners who are homeless or living below the poverty level, where rehoming is their only option.
The majority of SOARescue animals come to us through our big sister organization SAFPAW (Southern Alliance for People and Animal Welfare).
If you would like to learn more about SAFPAW and their weekly spay/neuter transport, homeless outreach program and women's post recovery home, please visit their website at www.safpaw.org.
If SOARescue has the capacity to aid with other strays or owner surrenders, we will gladly do so. Our goal is to help relieve pressure on the over-burdened shelter system.
