My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Parker is a 1 yr old Great Dane. To say he’s all legs is an understatement. Parker currently weighs around 120 lbs. He has no idea that he’s a big boy.

Parker loves to romp around with all his canine friends. It doesn’t matter if they weigh only 5 lbs or if they weigh 80 lbs. They’re all the same to him and he loves them all. He even enjoys the company of the resident cat and parrot too. I think you get the picture. Parker is a social butterfly with his canine and other animal friends.

We think Parker would be most successful with another dog pal in the household. Parker tends to be cautious with new people but given his space he can warm up quickly. He would do well in a quiet low-key environment with patient and gentle caregivers.

Additional adoption info

We ask potential adopters to complete an adoption application so we can determine if the dog will be a suitable match. Applications are available for download from our web site (http://www.homelesshounds.us/). All family members must meet and agree on the dog. Once the form has been submitted, a board reviews the application, to confirm that the dog is a good match. After that a home inspection is given, to check for poisonous plants, holes in the fence, etc. If everything is in order, then the adopter will foster the dog for two weeks, as the final step in ensuring that dog and human get along well. Once the foster period is completed then the dog is officially adopted (some paperwork will have to be filled out and we request a donation to help save more dogs).
If at any time, for any reason, the adopter is going to give up the dog, the dog MUST be returned to Homeless Hounds (Big Dog Rescue.)

More about this rescue

Homeless Hounds (Big Dog Rescue) is a non-profit, no-kill, 501-c tax exempt rescue which finds homes for dogs of all sizes.
We help dogs in danger of being euthanized in kill shelters find forever homes. We transport and place into foster homes very adoptable dogs that would have been killed in the already overfull shelters. We frequently transport dogs with medical needs to UC Davis before being placed into foster homes.
