Introducing Gustav!

Gustav, his 4 siblings, his mom and several other dogs found their way to CRT after being saved from a 50+ dog hoarding case in Georgia. His mom is named Greta and she’s a big girl at 20 lbs, most of the dogs from this situation appear to be dachshund/chihuahua mixes but we can’t promise anything! Greta gave birth to Hanz, Franz, Gunter, Gustav & Heidi on February 20, 2024. Gustav is approximately 7 lbs at this time and not expected to get bigger than 12-13 lbs fully grown.

Gustav is a little challenged in the long leg arena and is a little shorter than some of his siblings but don’t let those short legs fool you – he’s still super-fast and those little legs are powerful!

Gustavs ears are TRYING to stand up in true chihuahua fashion, and he’s mastered steamrolling over any object in his way when he’s tarting out in the yard! Gustav loves to play and LOVES big dogs. He is a silly boy with a goofy personality. He is super sweet and loves to play and cuddle.

Won’t you give Gustav the love and home he deserves?

Gustav is UTD on vaccines, HW Negative and on HW preventative. He will be considered foster to adopt until he is old enough to be neutered at 6 months old.

Gustav’s adoption donation is $350.00.

An application must be submitted and approved before a meet-n-greet can be scheduled.

Your current dogs/cats must be spayed or neutered unless a veterinarian has determined that your current pet(s) should not be fixed due to medical reasons. They must also be up-to-date on shots and on HW preventative.

Reference checks and a home visit are required so dogs can only be adopted in NC/SC, VA, TN, AL, MD, GA, OH, KY, MI, WI, and IL.

Gustav is currently located in North Carolina, any adopter located outside our Southeast Region (NC/SC, VA, TN, AL, MD, GA) will be responsible for paying the additional cost of a flight to transport him to his forever home if ground transport is not available. The cost of a flight typically costs $125, and Gustav will be flown in cabin and escorted by an airline volunteer.
