Introducing Gunther!

Gunther, his 4 siblings, his mom and several other dogs found their way to CRT after being saved from a 50+ dog hoarding case in Georgia. His mom is named Greta and she’s a big girl at 20 lbs, most of the dogs from this situation appear to be dachshund/chihuahua mixes but we can’t promise anything! Greta gave birth to Hanz, Franz, Gunther, Gustav & Heidi on February 20, 2024. Gunther is approximately 7 lbs at this time and not expected to get bigger than 12-13 lbs fully grown.

Gunther is a little shorter in the leg than some of his siblings but that doesn’t slow him down at all! He’s quite fast and a master at rolling if he trips when running to fast!

Gunther is a beautiful combination of red, white and tan coloring, the same as his momma! Gunther has a lot of energy and loves to play chase, especially when you are trying to round him up! He loves to play with the big dogs and rolls over for them to show they can be boss – otherwise, he likes to challenge Hanz as litter boss. He is a super sweet boy and quite cuddly if you can catch him!

Gunther is UTD on vaccines, HW Negative and on HW preventative. He will be considered foster to adopt until he is old enough to be neutered at 6 months old.

Gunther’s adoption donation is $350.00.

An application must be submitted and approved before a meet-n-greet can be scheduled.

Your current dogs/cats must be spayed or neutered unless a veterinarian has determined that your current pet(s) should not be fixed due to medical reasons. They must also be up-to-date on shots and on HW preventative.

Reference checks and a home visit are required so dogs can only be adopted in NC/SC, VA, TN, AL, MD, GA, OH, KY, MI, WI, and IL.

Gunther is currently located in North Carolina, any adopter located outside our Southeast Region (NC/SC, VA, TN, AL, MD, GA) will be responsible for paying the additional cost of a flight to transport him to his forever home if ground transport is not available. The cost of a flight typically costs $125, and Gunther will be flown in cabin and escorted by an airline volunteer.
