SUMMER - the well-behaved happy dog for any loving home
Summer is doing exceptionally well in her foster home. She doesn't need a crate and enjoys the freedom of the house, never touching or chewing on anything she shouldn't. Summer is comfortable being left alone for a couple of hours, usually spending that time napping peacefully. Her eating habits are great, and she is an absolute pleasure to walk. She never pulls on the leash or lunges at birds or squirrels. Summer is friendly to dogs she meets on walks and is always polite to visitors. She has become much better with outside noises but would thrive in a quieter home environment. One important note is that Summer has mastered opening doors and gates and therefore needs to be monitored. While she has mastered basic commands, she will need additional work on recall to ensure she comes when called. Despite this, Summer truly is a lovely dog. She loves being around people, wagging her tail, and seeking chin scratches. Her initial tendency to recoil has lessened significantly, showing that she is a young dog with an old soul, ready to bring joy and companionship to her forever family.
Please Note:
*Must have a FENCED-IN yard!*
**No children under 12!**

More about this rescue
Somerset Cottage Poodle Rescue, established in 2013, is an all volunteer 501c(3) dog rescue funded by your donations. We rescue companion and senior dogs, at risk for euthanasia, from overcrowded shelters and provide them with the medical attention they need. We also redone dogs for owners who can no longer care for them. We do not have a facility so all of our dogs live in foster homes through out the Northern Virginia area until their adoption day. We are proud that we find them perfectly matched forever homes and families. We rescue and find permanent homes for approximately 250 dogs a year.
