My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

LOCATION: Madison, Mississippi
DOB: 03/01/2020

Meet Cowboy, a goofy and affectionate Great Dane who is the ultimate Velcro dog. Always ready for a cuddle or a game of chase, Cowboy will follow you around the house, making him the perfect snuggle buddy. His favorite treat is jerky, and he'll do anything for a piece. He loves chasing birds and squirrels, adding a touch of adventure to his daily walks, and his favorite toy is a stuffed bunny, which he enjoys de-stuffing bit by bit, starting from the head.

Cowboy's morning ritual includes sipping coconut milk, a little luxury to start his day. Unlike most dogs, he turns his nose up at dog biscuits—jerky or nothing for this picky eater. He is an expert cuddler, loving nothing more than lounging on the couch with his humans and snuggling close.

He's excellent on a leash and doesn’t pull, making walks a pleasure. However, always be prepared for an impromptu bird or squirrel chase. Cowboy is fully potty trained and has good house manners. While he will go into a crate, he doesn’t enjoy it and tends to whine or howl, preferring to be out and about with his family.

Cowboy would thrive in a home where he’s the only pet, as he loves having all the attention to himself. He’s okay being left alone but prefers a mellow environment with someone around most of the time to cuddle with. Cowboy is great with both men and women and fits well into a household where he can be a central part of the family.

A huge cuddle bug, Cowboy loves nothing more than being close to his humans. Playful yet calm, he’s the perfect companion for someone looking for a big, affectionate friend. His ideal home would have plenty of space for him to stretch out and someone who can provide lots of love and attention. Cowboy is ready to bring his loving personality and playful spirit to his forever home. If you’re looking for a big dog with an even bigger heart, Cowboy might be your perfect match.

All of our Great Danes are altered, if medically possible, fully vetted, micro-chipped, and on heartworm prevention or treatment prior to being adopted. Thank you for considering adopting a rescue dog, you're saving a life when you adopt.

More about this rescue

To rescue Great Danes from neglect, abuse, and abandonment while providing medical care and individual rehabilitation through our experienced and loving foster home program until we are able to provide each rescued Dane with a qualified, caring, and permanent home that will ensure a good quality of life they deserve.

To assist owners that cannot afford spaying, neutering or heartworm treatment as funds allow while also educating owners on affordable, local spay/neuter clinics, spay/neuter benefits, vaccinations, backyard breeding, behavior, nutrition, and obedience. Additionally, we want to be a link point to other rescues and clubs. Raising awareness around rescues and the Great Dane breed is of great importance to us.

We have been rescuing Great Danes since 2011 and we take pride in the collective love, concern, and dedication we have given to the misunderstood and forgotten Danes. It is our mission to continue to be the voices of the less fortunate Danes and to provide them safety and their birthright to a quality of life filled with love and dignity. You can help us achieve our mission by donating funds, items from our wishlist, items of relevance, your time through volunteering, or by lending your home as a foster.
