My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How Johnny arrived:
Johnny was brought in by a Humane Law Enforcement Team on 5/10/24.

Why Johnny is the one for you:
Meet Johnny! This sweet boy is a loyal companion who loves to go for walks, play with tennis balls and frolic in sprinklers on a hot day. Johnny is shy with new people and a little suspicious of new environments, but with some extra reassurance, his social nature shines through. He walks well on leash, leans in for pets and has an infectious smile. With continued patience and positive reinforcement training, Johnny's confidence will continue to blossom. Because of his shyness, we are recommending a home without small children (under 10). Ready to give Johnny the loving companionship he deserves? Come by and meet him today!

At SDHS:
Johnny is vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. Johnny is now ready for his new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
