Sir Winston is an energetic 1 year old Isabella Dapple Wirehair dachshund. This live-wire 😉is true to dachshund puppy form in he is a destroyer of toys and has a propensity to chew on all the things. Also like a puppy he is working on house training and how to walk on a leash. This bright boy is learning quickly in his foster home and will work for affection and treats. He was surrendered because of a change in life for his family. He likes other dogs but they need to be able to match his gusto for play. He is big on cuddling once his energy has been depleted through long walks, fetch and spirited toy play. One thing Winston is not fond of is being left alone or being crated. He is working on these skills with his foster mama. Sir Winston will need a home with a fence, people who have the time, experience and patience to train him on manners and to guide him to grow into the regal dog he is capable of becoming. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Sir Winston will go to his / her new home microchipped, spayed/neutered, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccinations, and with all other medical needs addressed.
Almost every dog's veterinary expenses exceed our adoption fees; we are a non-profit.
DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia.
Since our rescue is entirely run and staffed by volunteers, our ability to travel long distances for adoptions is somewhat limited. We focus on Georgia, but if you are in a neighboring state, we might be able to work something out - we'll expect you to do your part.
DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back.
