My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Ralph, a sweet and sensitive soul who`s looking for a loving home! Ralph may be a little shy at first, but once he warms up to you, he’s a total cuddle bug. He’s an easy walker, fully leash-trained, and house-trained too—so he`s already got the basics down. Ralph is playful and sometimes gets a little overexcited, which just adds to his charm! He has a soft spot for water and loves splashing around, making him the perfect companion for outdoor adventures or a day by the lake.

While he gets along with some dogs, Ralph can be a bit selective with his furry friends, so he`d do best in a home where he can meet potential doggy siblings first.

This gentle, loving boy would thrive in a home that understands his need for a little extra time to come out of his shell. Once he does, he’ll reward you with endless loyalty and affection.

If you`re looking for a loyal, affectionate pup with a love for water, playtime, and gentle strolls, Ralph just might be your new best friend!

Additional adoption info

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day!
For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites.
For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.

Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older

Interested adopters should come to the shelter during business hours to meet with a counselor start looking for a pet who'll be a good fit. Our counselors and volunteers are happy to help with that process.

More about this shelter

Austin Animal Center is the largest open-intake animal shelter in central Texas and we work very hard to try to save 90% or more of the thousands of animals we shelter every year. We always need volunteers and both monetary and in-kind donations to help us in our sheltering and prevention activities. Visit our website to find out how you can help!
