My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Elm and Yew, a delightful pair of male budgies who are seeking a loving forever home together. Elm and Yew are currently adjusting to life with humans but have shown a keen interest in exploring and enjoying their out-of-cage time. They may not be fully accustomed to human interaction yet, but their curiosity and willingness to explore are promising signs of their potential.

These two budgies are ideally suited for someone with the patience and dedication to help them build trust and understand that humans can be caring companions. With gentle encouragement and time, Elm and Yew are likely to blossom into more confident and affectionate birds.

It's important to note that Elm and Yew are bonded and should be adopted together. Their companionship is a source of comfort and stability for each other, and they thrive in each other's company.

If you're looking to welcome a pair of budgies into your home and have the willingness to provide them with the patience and care they need to flourish, Elm and Yew would be a wonderful addition to your family. Together, you can embark on a journey of building trust and creating a loving bond with these charming budgie buddies.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
