My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Boomer is one of the most dog friendly dogs we have. He is not a fan of cats and would much prefer a home where he is sharing attention with other dogs only. Boomer is shy, and mostly keeps to himself around new people but perks up with new dogs almost instantaneously. Once he warms up to his humans, he is a very loving pup and loves to be around them constantly. Boomer can get nervous and anxious when he is home by himself. He tries to cope by chewing on things, including his nails, and digging. Boomer is a calm boy and easy to walk. We feel like he would thrive in a home where his family is home the majority of the day, maybe someone who works from home or is retired. Boomer would love to join a family that already has pups. We can facilitate a meet and play session here at the Spartanburg Humane Society with your current pup if you’re interested in Boomer.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Thank you for choosing to look for your new pet at the SHS!

There are always many wonderful and loving animals available for adoption. Dogs and cats are most common, but small animals, like rabbits, guinea pigs, and hamsters, as well as large animals, like horses, are also in need of a new home.

We are open six days a week, making it convenient for you to stop by for a visit.

Why adopt from the SHS?

The Spartanburg community continues to produce many thousands of unwanted animals every year.

As the only open admission animal shelter in the county, the Adopt Your New Best Friend! SHS provides for the temporary needs of these pets. But we need your help to provide them with permanent homes!

Adoption fees offer incredible value at $85 for dogs and $49 for cats. These fees include spay or neuter surgery, permanent microchip identification, as well as many other perks.

We also offer low-cost veterinary services for adopters. In other words, we are committed to your match being a success!

Just as importantly, you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you have helped to give a loving animal a much deserved second chance.

Remember, you will need some supplies for your new pet. You can purchase much of what you will need at the Spartanburg Humane Society Save-A-Pet Store, and all proceeds benefit the homeless animals in our care.
