Fork is a 1 year old Dachshund x Miniature Pinscher mix looking for his matching spoon! Fork was taken in by a good citizen after his former home was no longer able to care for him. That good citizen wanted to do best by Fork and reached out to us in the hope we could help her out. We took Fork in and promised him his next home would be his last! Fork weighs around 13 pounds and has absolutely fabulous bat ears that earn him compliments wherever he goes. We know Fork is ready for his next food adventure with the perfect foodie forever home! Plus, as a Hot Dog dog, he’s already bringing half the fun along with him!

Fork is a sweet, sensitive dude with a heart that’s just ready to burst with love for his forever home. Fork came to our rescue severely undersocialized and very shut down, so we took it slow and let him lead the way as he got settled in. After a few weeks of gentle love and care, we have started to see Fork’s temperament emerge and he is a wonderful gem! Fork would love a home where he can gain his confidence as he starts checking out the world outside his front door. For those who love helping shy dogs blossom, Fork would be the perfect dog for that challenge. Once you earn his love, you will have a devoted companion who is ready to follow you anywhere. If you want a buddy ready for a movie marathon, Fork is that pup! If you are looking for a walking companion, Fork is waiting by the door with the leash, as long as you let him set the pace. We know that once our Fork finds his Spoon, he will be in bliss!

Fork starts his morning at 7 AM with a full body wiggle before he gets up and faces the day. After he’s ready for action, he heads outside for a potty session before coming back inside for breakfast. During the day, Fork spends his time sniffing around the yard, monitoring his foster mom as she works around the house, and relaxing on one of his many plush beds. In the afternoon, Fork does a daily desensitization session where he works on facing a fear. He gets a reward for being a brave boy in the form of a dog treat! Fork gets dinner at 6 PM and then spends his evenings curled up on his bed as he watches tv with his foster family. After one last trip outside for potty, Fork heads to his crate for the night at 10 PM.

Fork is friendly with other dogs if he is allowed to slowly get comfortable. He would love a confident canine companion who’s willing to wait as he works out his comfort. He could also thrive as a solo dog. Fork will need continued socialization and training to ensure he feels his confident best. Fork will be best suited to an adult-only home.

More about this rescue

We are passionate folks who love dogs and love people! We strive to make the most appropriate match between human and canine. Because our dogs live in foster homes we know about their temperament and personality and therefore can help families and individuals decide if the dog is a good match or not. We are excited to help people find the right pooch for them and look forward to meeting great folks and welcoming them into the DPS Family.
