My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Zephyr (Mama) was found deep in Griffith Park with three other guinea pigs by a good neighbor who was out hiking with his dogs. The four guinea pigs had been abandoned in a cardboard box that had disintegrated in the rain. They were wet, cold, hungry and Zephyr was pregnant. We took them in and on March 16th, 2024, Zephyr gave birth to four babies, three survived. About a week later, we almost lost Spud too. She needed to be bottle fed but she proved to be a tiny fighter and got stronger and stronger, eventually eating enough on her own to keep gaining weight like all baby guinea pigs should! She is a small little lady and will likely stay smaller but we can't say for sure, she is full of surprises!

Zephyr is a beautiful piggy, she has the shiniest, softest fur. Having previously been food deprived she loves to eat and food is truly the way to her heart. She's a great lap pig (especially if snacks are provided) and she loves to lounge in her cage and just be a mellow girl.

Spud is a loud and spirited wheeker and loves to hop on top of her rainbow tunnel and observe all the things. She also loves to eat and we really want an owner that will keep an eye on her weight throughout her life and make sure she continues to put on weight until she's full grown, as well as making sure she maintains it as an adult piggy. This is easiest enough to do with a weekly or bi-weekly weigh in.

If you can provide these two with a "kitchen" area, they will keep their cage very neat since they tend to use their hay box as a litter box. They are also addicted to a certain type of food that we offer them as a treat so anyone interested in continuing to provide that for them would make us so happy!

This is an adorable young pair that would be a wonderful addition to any home.

We do require a 4x2 C&C cage or a double midwest cage setup. The 4x2 C&C cage measures 56" x 27". Please see our Supply list for links to approved habitats: https://www.socalguineapigrescue.org/supplies-list

All of our piggies are fostered in LA, OC and Ventura Counties so please message us if you would like to meet any of them.
