My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Benji! This 17-lb Yorkshire Terrier blend is 8 years old. Bouncy, bubbly Benji is looking for a forever family who is ready for his irresistible good spirits, because Benji is bound to put a smile on your face!

  • General Behavior: Benji is a playful, happy little boy who enjoys interacting with the other dogs in his foster home. He needs a little "warm-up time" to get you know you, then he's very friendly.

  • Likes & Dislikes: Benji’s interests include attention and adventures. He enjoys going out on leashed walks. He also loves his humans’ undivided attention. He also likes a soft dog bed for a good roll.

  • Training: Benji is a little gentleman! He is housetrained if let out frequently, and he lets his people know he needs to go out by circling and whining. He usually comes when called. He walks well on a leash, is well-behaved in the car, sleeps in a dog bed at night, and generally has good basic manners.

  • Medical: Benji is a healthy boy! He’ll just need his monthly flea and heartworm preventatives, like any dog.

  • Other Animals: Benji would do best as an only dog or in a home with another calm, quiet dog. He does not like other dogs who get into his space. He is, however, good with cats!

  • Children: Benji needs a home with older, understanding children only (ages 8-10+).

  • Home: Benji is equally at home downtown or down on the farm: he would do well in most any type of home, be it an apartment, condo, or single family home.

  • Grooming: Benji should not need much elaborate grooming, apart from occasional baths and nail trims.

  • Overall: This happy-go-lucky guy will make the perfect companion for an active family who can love him forever.

Brave Benji has been through so many changes: can you make his dream of a forever home come true? Then visit our website www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org where you will find the application to adopt. You’ll be put in contact with his foster family if it’s a potential match for more information. He is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and neutered, and he has just had his teeth cleaned. His adoption donation is $275.

We are a foster-based rescue organization and do not have a facility. We have all events posted on our website each month.

More about this rescue

Poodle and Pooch Rescue is a 501(c)3 non profit organization that saves dogs that truly need help. We rescue the "leftovers" from animal control, the dogs nobody wants because they're older or suffer from neglect, abuse or have a medical need. Their "last" day becomes the first day of their new life. We provide the veterinary care they need, a foster family they love and when they're ready, we adopt them to a family who cherishes them. We do not have a physical shelter because every dog lives with one of our foster families. We are all volunteers so your tax-deductible donation goes directly to help the dogs. We have saved over 5,500 dogs since 2008.
