If you haven't heard of "Black Dog Syndrome" please go to our website at www.pinkshelter.org under the "Why Rescue" tab to read about why the chances of Ellie being adopted are so slim. Ellie was owned by an octogenarian who decided she didn't want Ellie anymore. When we found out that Ellie had been living chained to a tree since she was a puppy (check out the photo of her chained to her tree), we had to save her. The day my colleague drove over to get her, the grandmother and her five great-grandchildren were home. Ellie loved them and just wanted to interact with them, but they made sure they stayed just out of her reach. My colleague unhooked Ellie's chain, put on one of her leashes, and Ellie was ready to jump right into the van and hit the road. Ellie never looked back. Now we're hoping someone who believes that Black is Beautiful and will open their hearts to Ellie and welcome her to the family!
Ellie is a happy-go-lucky girl with a love of life that is contagious! She instantly became one of the volunteers' favorite because she's so easy to be around. She's been great with all the men, women and kids she's met, and she is so appreciative of every ounce of attention. Sure, she'll occasionally jump up when she first sees people but that's because it's hard for her to wait her turn for a hug! And, yes, she still bounces around like a baby kangaroo sometimes - - after all, she's still got plenty of "puppy" in her. And she is definitely a bit of a goofball - - hey, she
IS mostly Lab!! But all you can do is smile at a girl who is this happy and affectionate . . . and we know if you just spend a little time with her, she'll learn all the finessing that you want to teach her because she's very smart, and she's a people-pleaser.
Elie is about 1 1/2 - 2 years old, she weighs about 50 - 60 pounds and she's a very healthy girl. We can't see much else in her besides Lab - - can you?? Whatever she is, you'll wish there were more of her! If you have room in your home and heart for a grateful girl who will fill it with love, please visit www.pinkshelter.org for more information about the adoption process or
