From an SMC student who spent time with Bianca, `Bianca is a sweet dog that welcomes new people with love. She loves toys but frisbees hold a special place in her heart! She knows some basic commands such as sit and stay, and she will happily do so to let you take photos of her as she adorably poses with her floppy ears and gorgeous white coat. She loves all kinds of treats—there’s no flavor she won’t try! Her personality and enjoyment of a tasty treat means that she is likely to learn new commands easily. Her fun and loving nature will make sure all your park trips, car rides, and walks will never have a dull moment. Bianca would be your best friend and a perfect companion in your life.`

Thank you for choosing to look for your new pet at the SHS!

There are always many wonderful and loving animals available for adoption. Dogs and cats are most common, but small animals, like rabbits, guinea pigs, and hamsters, as well as large animals, like horses, are also in need of a new home.

We are open six days a week, making it convenient for you to stop by for a visit.

Why adopt from the SHS?

The Spartanburg community continues to produce many thousands of unwanted animals every year.

As the only open admission animal shelter in the county, the Adopt Your New Best Friend! SHS provides for the temporary needs of these pets. But we need your help to provide them with permanent homes!

Adoption fees offer incredible value at $85 for dogs and $49 for cats. These fees include spay or neuter surgery, permanent microchip identification, as well as many other perks.

We also offer low-cost veterinary services for adopters. In other words, we are committed to your match being a success!

Just as importantly, you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you have helped to give a loving animal a much deserved second chance.

Remember, you will need some supplies for your new pet. You can purchase much of what you will need at the Spartanburg Humane Society Save-A-Pet Store, and all proceeds benefit the homeless animals in our care.
