You know that friend/family member of yours that makes their presence well known at all the parties, gatherings, or family get togethers? That's Teddy. Teddy is always the life of the party and ready for a good time. He has made so many friends here at the shelter- dogs and people alike- yet he still lingers here in the shelter waiting to be adopted for over 5 months! One by one, each of Teddy's friends have been, "chosen," by their forever families, and Teddy has had to say goodbye.
As you could imagine, this has left Teddy feeling quite frustrated. As a result, each person that walks past his kennel is met with a jump at the gate and a loud bark, as if to say, "LOOK AT ME! I'M HERE, AND I CAN LOVE YOU,TOO!" He's longing for the day that he can walk the beach where he was initially found by animal control- but this time with a best friend by his side.
Due to the nature of how Teddy arrived to our shelter, it is unknown if he is housetrained. He would likely do well with children ages 7+, and possibly even younger if his pet parents were capable/willing to work with him on learning, "personal space". This boy sure loves to give kisses!
Interested in meeting Teddy? Great! Stop by the Humane Society of South Mississippi any time Tuesday-Friday from 10am-5pm, or Saturdays 10am-4pm. We are located at 2615 25th Avenue in Gulfport, Mississippi. Don't forget to bring a new leash and collar!

HSSM is open for adoptions Tuesday – Friday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. No appointment is necessary to adopt, however, adoptions are first-come, first served. Our adoptable animals page is self-updating and displays ALL of HSSM’s adorable adoptable pets from “pocket pets” to birds and of course the hundreds of dogs and cats currently calling HSSM home! See one you like? Make sure you note your favorite’s name and animal ID number so that HSSM staff and volunteers can easily find him/her when you come in!
Adoptions are cut off every day about 30 minutes prior to closing and possibly earlier if volume is high. Weekends are busy and you may have to wait more than an hour (especially in the afternoons) so please be prepared.
