Aberdeen Scottish Terrier Rescue is a registered 501(c)3

***MUST SUBMIT APPLICATION before we will respond to email or phone inquiries. Thank You for your cooperation***
Please read listings fully to the end before applying for one of our beloved rescues.

WE ARE NOT A SHELTER; WE ARE AN ALL-VOLUNTEER RESCUE WITH FULL-TIME JOBS.
Please do not contact us to look at a dog. We will contact you once we have reviewed your completed application if we think your home might be a good fit. A reference check, phone interview, and home visit will be completed before meeting an adoptable dog.

We work quickly. Please do not submit an application until you are ready to bring a new furry family member home. Expect your references to be contacted shortly after submitting your application. We adopt out to homes around WA & OR, but require that you are present for the meet and greet in Newcastle, WA.

Our adoption fee is non-negotiable. The adoption fee is due on the day of adoption in the form of a check, Zelle, or cash. We no longer accept PayPal due to their fees they charge the rescue but if the potential adopter wants to pay the fees we will accept PayPal.

Just imagine if no one thought your life mattered? Well that’s what happened to Rigatoni a terrier mix at the age of 18 months. He was not even listed on the shelter website because he was adopted & returned to the shelter. How, why he ended up in one of the highest kill shelters in CA we will never know originally? He was given to 3:00 pm for a rescue to come save him with no exceptions. As the minutes ticked by no one come to help this sweet boy & it hit 3:00 pm. We did not know about him until a beautiful networker let us know about him, who gives her heart & soul daily to network these souls to save their lives. We seen a video of this boy & knew immediately we could not let anything happen to this bundle of happiness. We immediately sent the pull & got him out.
Rigatoni who is now looking for his very own forever home & who will never give up on him again & dump him & love him just as we do.

After we rescued Rigatoni he was bought back to WA state from CA where he can’t wait to find him his loving forever home.

The absolute insanity to think this baby doll ended up in a kill shelter in CA is soul destroying.
Rigatoni just wants to be loved. Disturbing to think no one wanted him & he was ready to die. The level of absolute madness here is so deeply sad for many of these beautiful souls out of CA kill shelters.
Rigatoni is a very soft gentle soul & at the same time so full of life love & energy. He always looks as though he is smiling. He likes to lay with you & can't be happier being petted & touched. He also loves to be with his buddies & just lay with them or do whatever they are doing. Or he will just go off by himself & do his own thing running around with enthusiasm. He would be good to take on hikes & adventures or just be with you.
He loves everyone he meets & enjoys being cuddled to & given love. He enjoys sleeping on his bed or pile of blankets with his foster siblings but may want to jump into the bed with you.

Rigatoni new forever home must have a fully fenced secured backyard for his safety. He enjoys going out into the backyard & rolls around & runs around with a zest for life.
Rigatoni has been great with his baths because he started having them with us the moment he was rescued so he is used to them. He has also started getting used to being dried with a hairdryer. He will just let you dry him. He has put on weight since being in the rescue.
We have tested him in a daycare & does well & loves both men & woman.
Rigatoni rides beautifully in the car & enjoys a good journey & will sit in his car seat next to you with his dog’s friends. He also enjoys looking out the window. He still needs continued work walking on his harness & leash but considering he does well. We are looking for a forever home for Rigatoni where someone is home during the day or he can go with his people wherever possibly he can go with them. We are also looking for a crate free home for the little lad only. He was left in a cage in the shelter until we rescued him. He will hurt himself if he is put into a crate & while at the vet’s receiving his medical he did not do well being in a cage.
Rigatoni is looking for a forever home who will cherish him & love him as he should be loved & be patient with him.

Rigatoni has been around many breeds of dogs all shapes & sizes & he is currently with other dogs & was fostered with other dogs in his foster home & does well with them & enjoys their company. But could be the only dog in the home if he was going to get all the attention.

Rigatoni is roughly 2 years old 25.5 lbs & is perhaps a terrier mix & what he is mixed with we are not sure at all. He was treated for a skin condition with antibiotics & had an ear flush. He is male, neutered by laser. He had a dental scale & polish allong with dental x-rays. He is microchipped, up to date on his shots, including DHLPP, Bordatella, rabies & being dewormed.

Rigatoni has not been around cats since being in the rescue but it’s always up to the new family to be responsible with their animals together. We have not had him around small children. But we do not recommend small children nor cats & it’s always up to the family to be responsible with their children.

We were not there when Rigatoni was conceived so we do not know who his parents were & it’s always up to the new potential family to look at the pictures & decide what they think his breed is.

As with all of our rescues & Rigatoni’s friends he will need work on potty training & training, so this should be something the new family would be willing to work on & commit to. Please do not submit an application if you are not willing to commit to one of our rescues care for their whole life & that includes if they need training. Please do not email us asking is Rigatoni potty trained or available, nor do we ship dogs anywhere as we will not respond.

We would never say anyone of our rescues are potty trained. Our rescues need homes where the people are understanding of their past & what they have been through & what they will need in their daily lives & not willing to give up on them & if they do need training in their new home will in fact take them to training & not just say they will when applying.
Rigatoni has been through many traumas in his short time on this earth so when applying this needs to be kept in mind & for his care.

Please only submit an application if you are truly interested in adopting Rigatoni & going through our process and have read his listing fully to the end & are wanting to adopt. If you are not responsive to our calls, emails or your references do not respond we will move on & remove your application from our system. You must be willing to go through our screening process which includes your references being checked, a phone interview & a virtual home visit due to covid & followed by a meet and greet & if it’s a good fit, up to our discretion. We will only be accepting applications for Rigatoni who understands his needs & that meet all the requirements for this spirited little lad.
Once we find the right home for each little soul we work fast, within days so the dogs can go to their forever homes in quite a timely manner. We do not hold onto dogs for people as our goal is to save lives & please do not submit an application if you are not ready to adopt. We also cannot respond to every application unfortunately.

Rigatoni has an adoption fee of $955 & is ready for his truly loving forever home & compassion & understanding of what he has been through.
