Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Carter, a resilient 5-6yr old pup with a challenging past. Brought to Downey Animal Shelter on 11/15/23 as a stray, he faced an uphill battle with a draining abscess on his left thigh and recurrent upper respiratory infections. Despite scheduled neutering being canceled due to his health, Carter was at risk of euthanasia due to space constraints and unmet medical needs.
But his tale took a turn for the better when he was pulled from the shelter on 12/23/23. Emaciated, dirty, and with dry feces clinging to his body, Carter's journey to recovery had just begun. His wound still required attention, and urgent vet care is crucial. Within 2 months, his wound was addressed by an amazing veterinarian and has now healed completely. Carter is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. He is dog selective and would do best as an only dog. He is crate trained and potty trained.
Carter seeks an adopter who is committed and patient, and ready to offer the love and support he deserves. He can also benefit from basic training.
