All Delaware Valley Siberian Husky Rescue (DVSHR) foster dogs are heartworm and parasite negative, vaccinated, and neutered before placement.
In the case of dogs too young for neutering, a deposit is required from the adopter. This deposit is fully refunded upon receipt of a neuter certificate.
DVSHR volunteers will evaluate a DVSHR dog for health, temperment and behavioral problems prior to placement. The adopter should keep in mind that problems may still exist.
An adoption fee is collected to cover vet and housing expenses of DVSHR dogs. Fees vary on age and number of dogs adopted. As a non-profit organization, we require a donation of $400 for altered Puppies up to 6 months. Unaltered Puppies up to 6 months are $300 + $150 at time of adoption with $150 refund upon proof of spay/neuter. Dogs 6 months to 7 years are $275, dogs 8 - 9 years are $150 and dogs 10+ years are a donation from the heart!
Multiple adoptions or subsequent adoptions are given a $50 discount.
To ensure good health of our dogs, each of them is tested
for heartworm, on heartworm preventative, tested for fecal parasites and treated when necessary, treated with Frontline to prevent flea and tick infestations, and up-to-date on all shots. Additional testing is completed and treatments provided as needed for any dog exhibiting any health concerns.
Prior to placement potential adopters must fill out an APPLICATION and schedule a home check.
Upon placement, the adopter is required to sign the ADOPTION CONTRACT.
DVSHR will review the application and suggest the best match of available Siberian Huskies to the new home. Support from experieced Siberian Husky owners and trainers is provided to the new family to ensure a happy ending.

More about this rescue
Siberian Husky rescue has become a need as a result of many individuals obtaining Siberian Huskies from for-profit breeders or pet stores that do not provide the education and support required to raise these beautiful dogs. The Delaware Valley Siberian Husky Rescue, Inc. (DVSHR) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) dedicated to the placement of unwanted or abused or homeless Siberian Huskies in permanent loving homes. We are centered around Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with volunteers working throughout most of the Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, and Delaware region.
DVSHR was founded by individuals from the Siberian Husky Club of Delaware Valley, Inc. These individuals were concerned for the well being of Siberian Huskies whose popularity had increased creating a profitable opportunity for puppy mill breeders. Given the lack of general public information on the breeds quirks and the irresistible cuteness of a Siberian puppy, the need for rescue became apparent as shelters received numerous dogs from illprepared owners.
The organization was incorporated in 1995 and registered as a Nonprofit 501(c)(3). The mission of the organization was set to find permanent homes for unwanted Siberian Huskies, provide public education on the breed, and assist Siberian owners in dealing with training issues.
Since its beginning, there have been hundreds of dogs that have found permanent homes though the hard work of the volunteers. The faces and names may change but the efforts of the organization will contiune.
