My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet ❤️GINGER ROGERS❤️. This rotund Yorkie(ish?) girl is about 10 years and was surrendered to our program after her owner was placed in a nursing home. She was well loved and well fed! She came into our program at a whopping 24.7 pounds, so she was stared on a weight loss regimen of portion control and low calorie kibble.

Ginger is very sweet and good natured so if you are looking to add a senior pet to your home that is laid back and happy to be around you, we would love for you to apply to adopt her! She is currently down to 19.6 pounds, but needs to be closer to 11 or 12 so we want her to go to a home that is able to commit to continuing her weight loss journey!

Apply to adopt today. Nationwide transport available (for approved applicants)! ✈️🚐To have your home considered for adoption, read about our adoption process or fees, and find out about interstate transport (dogs only), please visit our website.

Long Way Home makes no guarantees on breed--most animals we receive from shelters are mixed breeds. As long as they need rescue, that's what is most important to us.

More about this rescue

Long Way Home was created to provide the last stop for animals displaced from their homes, deemed "unadoptable" by other rescues, or that need a level of care their previous owners or other shelters are unable or unwilling to provide.
