My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Kooks, our sweet, beautiful female Tortoise cat!

Kooks requires a bit of patience and understanding initially, as her nervous nature makes her easily-startled and hesitant around new people. She needs a calm and quiet environment where she can feel safe. Building trust with Kooks will take some time, but once she feels secure, her true personality shines through. She becomes vocal, sharing her thoughts and feelings, is very playful, and loves lots of scratches. Her small size makes her a perfect cuddle buddy when she chooses to settle in your lap.

A key part of Kooks' well-being is staying with her bonded companion, Fred. The two are inseparable, and Kooks' presence helps Fred feel safe and secure. Fred's self-sufficient nature means he doesn't require constant attention or extensive interaction, and Kooks' playful energy entertains once trust is established. Fred complements Kooks' personality, and together, they bring a balanced and harmonious energy to your home.

If you have the patience and heart to give Kooks the time she needs to trust, and you are ready to welcome both her and Fred into your home, they will reward you with endless love, warmth, and companionship. We respond as quickly as possible but as we are a volunteer based organization and do not have full time staff, we respond as quickly as possible.

Go meet their pets

CAWS does not have a conventional shelter facility - all CAWS animals waiting for adoption are in foster homes. The number of animals we can help find new homes for is closely linked to how many CAWS foster homes are available. For additional information regarding how you, too, can become a foster, please see our fostering page located on our web site!

CAWS volunteers bring cats and dogs to the PetSmart near 2100 South and 300 West in South Salt Lake on the third and fourth weekends of each month

We are also at the Sugarhouse PETCO (1165 Wilmington Ave) the first Saturday of each month.
