Avocado is a 13 week old German Shepherd mix who is ready to make your life guac-some! This amazing dude was dumped at a shelter after he got “too old” for the home who originally got him. We don’t know either. Avocado has been a fabulously hilarious boy since he jumped into the arms of our rescuer and he hasn’t looked back since. Avocado will be in the 50-65 pound range when he reaches his adult weight, so he’d be perfect for homes looking for a dog with extra love to give! Avocado can’t wait for a lifetime of sombreros and siestas with you!

Avocado is ready to make the world his oyster! This bouncy boy has two modes: play time and nap time as of now, with occasional breaks to snack on his kibble. He literally bounces across the room and squeaks with excitement when you give him affection. Avocado is happy to sit at your feet or next to you on the couch and we suspect he will get his cuddle on as he gets bigger. He is happiest at the side of his people, whether on an adventure or napping on your feet. He is also super smart and food motivated, so we can’t wait to see all the tricks he learns as he grows up. This boy also loves giving kisses and getting them in return. He is such a lover. Avocado is a big zoomies guy, racing around the house and yard with his chosen toy before he crashes over his own feet to take a well deserved nap.

Avocado starts his morning at 6:30 AM with a whine to let you know he’s ready to get the day going! After heading outside for a potty break, he tussles with his foster brother before he gets another nap in. Once he’s up for good, he gets his breakfast in the kitchen. When his foster mom works from home, Avocado spends the day alternating between chasing his foster siblings around the yard and taking long naps in his pen. Avocado is a very silly and playful little guy. After a long day of playing with his pile of soft toys, Avocado comes to find his foster mom when he’s ready for dinner. He has dinner at 7 PM and then spends his evenings playing with his human foster siblings in the backyard. After a long day of fun in the sun, Avocado goes outside for one last potty break before he heads to his crate for the night.

Avocado gets along well with other dogs and would love a canine companion to romp around a yard with. Like any puppy, he is still working on his behavioral and obedience skills, so we will expect interested homes to provide a plan for training and socialization. Avocado currently thinks the cats are chase toys, but he isn’t aggressive towards them. Avocado has such a big heart and we know he will make your life complete once you bring him home!

Avocado is only an option for those with recent prior dog experience, especially those with large breed experience. Kids in the home should be over the age of 8.

More about this rescue

We are passionate folks who love dogs and love people! We strive to make the most appropriate match between human and canine. Because our dogs live in foster homes we know about their temperament and personality and therefore can help families and individuals decide if the dog is a good match or not. We are excited to help people find the right pooch for them and look forward to meeting great folks and welcoming them into the DPS Family.
