My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ABOUT CHAKA
Chaka is a 1 year old terrier mix that loves hanging with friends! She came to HAP with her bestie, Kokoa, when their owners were no longer able to care for them. Despite being at the shelter, this little lady quickly warmed up to our staff and volunteers, leaning in for pets and enjoying some yummy treats. Chaka loves spending time with people and her doggy friends. She has been a superstar in our Doggy Day Out program, where volunteers take a pup out of the shelter for the day. Here's what they had to say about her:

"Chaka was an absolute delight! On the car ride to the park she just looked out the window. When I opened the car door at the park she waited for me to tell her she could get out. We went past a horse barn and just sat and watched the horses. Total walk was 5.2 miles! I took her to the ice cream shop for a pup cup, which she loved, and more water. She walks beautifully on a leash. I didn't hear her bark at all and she is gentle taking treats. She is an absolute sweetheart! - Autumn

"Chaka was a great Doggy Day Out partner. She is such a nice, gentle girl. She rode very well in the car and is so absolutely easy to walk. In fact, I had to check to make sure she was still clipped because I wasn't feeling any pull. She walked right beside me most of the time. She wasn't bothered at all by other walkers or dogs or runners or bikers. She just did her thing. Someone will be very lucky to get her. - Karen

"If you're looking for an active, lovable dog, Chakka would be the perfect fit. We jogged for about a mile and Chakka loved running with us. She'd be amazing for someone looking for a running partner. She was loving our back scratches and belly rubs. She is a super sweet girl and we loved taking her out. It was a perfect day for us and for her. - Ashley

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.
